Welcome to SmartKhata, an AI-powered digital business management app built by the SmartKhata team for Pakistani shopkeepers and SMBs. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our mobile app and related services.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. Your business data belongs to you — we only process it to make the app work for your dukaan.

• Personal information: name, phone number, email and business name at sign-up.
• Business data: khata entries, invoices, products, customers, staff records — stored primarily on your device.
• Device information: device model, OS version, unique identifiers and crash logs.
• Usage analytics: anonymized events to help improve app quality.
• Camera permission: used only for barcode scanning and receipt capture.
• Storage permission: used to save invoices, backups and exported reports.

• To operate and improve the SmartKhata app.
• To sync your data securely across devices when you enable cloud backup.
• To send push notifications about sales, low stock and reminders.
• To diagnose crashes and improve stability through anonymized analytics.
• We never sell or rent your data to third parties.

• SmartKhata is offline-first. Your data lives on your device.
• Optional cloud backups are stored on Firebase Firestore inside encrypted regions.
• All network traffic uses HTTPS/TLS encryption.
• Passwords are hashed with industry-standard algorithms.
• You own your business data. You can export or delete it any time.

SmartKhata uses a minimal set of trusted third-party services:

• Firebase (authentication, cloud storage, crash reporting).
• Google Analytics for Firebase (anonymous usage analytics).

Each provider maintains its own privacy policy which governs the data they process.

• Your business data is never sold.
• We never share your data with advertisers.
• Aggregate, anonymous analytics may be used for product improvement.
• We may disclose data if legally required by valid Pakistani legal process.

• Access all data associated with your account.
• Export your data as CSV or PDF at any time.
• Delete your account and all cloud-stored data on request.
• Disable analytics from the in-app settings.
• Contact our support team for any privacy concerns.

SmartKhata is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, please contact us and we will remove it.

SmartKhata is a native app and does not use browser cookies.

We use standard mobile identifiers (Firebase Installation ID) for anonymous analytics. You can reset these identifiers from your device settings.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you inside the app. Continued use of SmartKhata after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
